MLG&W works to restore power

All but approximately 80 customers of the 38,000 affected by Saturday morning’s storm have been restored.

The majority of those customers are impacted by outages on President’s Island where 34 utility poles were destroyed.

Final repairs on President’s Island are expected to be complete by midnight.

Strong winds caused widespread damage across the county, including downed trees and poles which complicated restoration as debris had to be removed before repairs could begin.

However, crews worked quickly and safely to restore power to 96 percent of customers in roughly 24 hours.
