Categorized |Business

Sales tax revenue in Collierville for the 2012-2013 fiscal year was the second highest among Shelby County cities, behind only Memphis.

According to data from Shelby County Trustee David Lenoir, the town generated more than $9.4 million in sales tax revenue from July 2012 to June 2013, the most among Shelby’s suburban municipalities.

The amount is nearly $1 million more than was collected in Bartlett, the next closest city.

Despite being down .82 percent from the previous fiscal year, the current amount is $1.3 million more than Collierville collected in 2009-2010.

Memphis collected $107.2 million in 2012-2013, a dip of less than $670,000 compared to the previous year.

With a 1.5-percent jump in revenue, Millington was the only Shelby city to see an increase in the recent fiscal year.

Germantown collected $5.2 million, while Arlington collected $1.07 million.
