GBC honored for vaccination effort

At the July 26 Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting, Collierville Mayor Stan Joyner honored Germantown Baptist Church for its contribution to the COVID-19 vaccination effort. Joyner is pictured giving an award of recognition to Senior Pastor Matt Brown and Pastor of Administration Larry Vaughan. The church’s property was an ideal location to make vaccines more accessible to eastern Shelby County and to successfully run a large-scale vaccination site. From Feb. 2 to June 24, 2021, the town and City of Germantown operated the site with town and city staff, as well as more than 800 community volunteers. In 4-and-a-half months, 68,700 vaccines were given to community members. “Germantown Baptist Church not only opened their doors to us, but worked side by side with us volunteering every day. It was a blessing and a great experience for all of us who worked there. We got to know our neighbors better and while providing a great service to our residents.” said Joyner.
