Virginia Lee Grannis Bigham

1935 – 2021

Virginia Lee Grannis Bigham, age 85, of Collierville, Tennessee passed away on Monday, July 26, 2021. Virginia was born on December 10, 1935, in Memphis, Tennessee to Charles Albert Grannis and Virginia Louise Grannis. 

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Curtis Bigham Jr. She is survived by her three children, Ginger Bigham, Robby Bigham (Debbie), and Valerie Bigham Vires (Joe); her two grandchildren, Nathaniel and Olivia Vires, and her beloved rescue dog, Rascal. 

Virginia became a member of the Collierville United Methodist Church in Collierville, Tennessee in the 90’s when she moved to Collierville. She attended many bible studies, senior adult ministry lessons, women’s groups, and Sunday school classes until her health began to decline. 

Virginia was an avid volunteer and philanthropist. She was very involved with the Friends of the Collierville Library, spent many years participating in a study at UT Memphis on Women’s Health Initiatives, and volunteered for multiple of the Memphis Wonders Exhibits.

In her free time, she loved watching the Cardinals baseball team and the Grizzlies basketball team. She also loved crime shows, reading, and gardening. Virginia was very involved in her children and grandchildren’s sports and school activities and was very supportive of them all. 

Virginia was a Godly woman, loving to her children and grandchildren, and a friend to all who met her. 

A private celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, July 29, 2021 for her close family members and friends. If one would like to send floral arrangements, please send them to the Collierville United Methodist Church: 104 North Rowlett Street, Collierville, Tennessee 38017. 

Virginia will be laid to rest alongside her husband at West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery: 4000 Forest Hill Irene, Germantown, TN 38125.

Virginia and her family request for any donations made to be made to the Collierville United Methodist Church, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation, or the National COPD Foundation.
