Academy looks to grow near Town Square

A two-story building is slated for construction near the gifted academy close to Town Square.

The Mid-South Gifted Academy recently purchased the property at 220 S. Center Street and plans to make an extension to the existing campus at 121 E. South Street.

An ordinance, discussed by the town’s Historic District Commission, will need to be passed to rezone 1 acre to mixed use planning.

The two existing buildings will be demolished.

“The redeveloped site would have parking and turnaround/drop off for both Mid-South Gifted Academy properties,” said Jaime Groce, Collierville’s Town Planner.

Mid-South Gifted Academy is a “mastery-based school for gifted learners in grades K-12 committed to partnering with families to develop personalized learning goals that link to student interests and allow for challenge, acceleration, and enrichment.”
