Schools across Collierville celebrated Read Across America Day last week in honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday.

Read Across America Day, also known as Dr Seuss Day, is a yearly observance in the USA inaugurated by the National Education Association. It is held on the school day that is nearest to Dr Seuss’ birthday.

Theodor Seuss Geisel was an American artist, book publisher, animator, poet, political cartoonist and author.

He is best known for authoring more than 60 children’s books. To celebrate, members of the town’s police department, school board, and even NFL long snapper Morgan Cox, took time out of their day to read to students at local elementary schools.
