St. Benedict at Auburndale is hosting the second annual Trunk or Treat on Oct. 29 at the school’s soccer field, 8250 Varnavas Drive at Germantown Parkway in Cordova, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. There will be school clubs and organizations handing out treats to all the little “goblins” that come out.
In addition, KIX – 106 will have a live remote at the event with KIX-106 personalities and prizes.
Everyone is invited.

The Junior Auxiliary of Collierville will present Scare on the Square on Oct. 30 from 3:30-6:30 p.m.
Dress up in your costume and go trick-or-treating along the businesses on the Historic Collierville Town Square.

Halloween doesn’t have to be scary to be fun. Little ones are sure to enjoy the Fairy Tale Trail presented by Germantown Community Theatre.
Looking for a bit more fright in your night? Dare to walk the Trail of Terror presented by Houston High School student government.
The family-friendly event is Oct. 30. Come in costume and enjoy concessions, free games and moon bounces. The Fairy Tale Trail is open from 6-8 p.m.
The Trail of Terror is open from 7-9 p.m.
The festival will be held at Bob Hailey Athletic Complex, 8750 Farmington Blvd.
Oct. 31
The Collierville Burch Library will host a Halloween Boo Bash from 4:30-5:30 p.m. on Oct. 31.
This program is for ages 4-10 and will include some not-too-scary stories, crafts and trick-or-treating around the library. Come in costume for a chance to win one of three prizes.
Oct. 30
Children, ages 3 to 5 years old, can learn about “Bugs, Bugs, Bugs” on Oct. 30. Parents are welcome but not required to stay.
Children should come dressed for farm chores and exploration (they will get dirty). Gloves and closed toed shoes are required. The fun is from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Germantown Farm Park. The Farm Park is located at 2660 Cross Country Drive. Pre-registration is required.

The Germantown Senior Expo offers an opportunity to meet experts from government, non-profit and private organizations with products and services to improve life.
Door prizes are awarded throughout the day. The free Senior Expo will be held Nov. 5 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Germantown Performing Arts Center, 1801 Exeter Road, and is presented by the Germantown Senior Advisory Commission. Booth space is available to vendors.

The Collierville Burch Library will host Coffeehouse Open Mic Night on Nov. 6 from 6-8 p.m.
We’ll have coffee and snacks—and an open mic. Bring either an original piece of your own or your favorite poem, short story, comic sketch, or even perform a skit with your friends. Join the Tennessee Genealogy Society on Saturday Nov. 7 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Germantown Regional History and Genealogy Center, 7779 Poplar Pike for their fall seminar.
Speaker D. Joshua Taylor is a nationally known genealogical author, lecturer, researcher and current president of the Federation of Genealogical Societies.

The YMCA at Schilling Farms is hosting its annual Veteran’s Day Celebration on Nov. 11 at 9:30 a.m.
This year’s speaker is Jim Walther, a retired U.S. Army Major who had various assignments throughout his career including the 101st Airborne in Vietnam.
The Collierville Middle School eighth grade band will be performing. The event is open to the community.

Nov. 12-15
Collierville High School presents its second show this season with the heartfelt comedy of The Nerd, in the Draco Playhouse. Larry Shue wrote the play in 1981, and Keith Salter is bringing it to life on Nov. 12-15.
The Nerd is a two-act comedy surrounding the life of Willum Cubbert, an architect from Terre Haute, Indiana who finds his life turned upside down by the very man who saved his life in the war, Rick Steadman. Larry Shue, an American playwright, first presented this play at the Milwaukee Repertory Theater in April 1981 and acted as Willum Cubbert.
In 1986, it was the top grossing play in London’s West End, with actors such as Rowan Atkinson playing the lead characters. The play ran on Broadway in the Helen Hayes theater for 441 performances from 1987 to 1988 starring Mark Hamill and directed by Charles Nelson Reilly.
Thomas M. Disch, the author, reviewed the comedy saying that it “racks up more laughs, and louder, than any farce this side of Alan Ayckbourn.”
Sadly, Shue did not have the opportunity to see his play on Broadway after dying in a plane crash at the age of 39. In his eulogy, Disch called this “fate’s cruelest trick on the theater since the murder of Joe Orton.” But Shue’s works live on with their heartfelt messages and witty banter.

The Collierville Burch Library will host a Hunger Games Party on Nov. 13 at 4 p.m.
The Hunger Games are back—and it’s time to celebrate the release of Mockingjay: Part 2 with our very own Collierville Burch Hunger Games. Participate in a friendly Hunger Games-themed competition featuring events like a scavenger hunt, hand-to-hand combat (nonviolent), and testing your survival skills.

The Collierville Burch Library is sponsoring a ‘Shred-It Event’ for Collierville Residents to help protect their identity and prevent fraud. The free event will take place on Nov. 14 from 9 a.m. to noon in the parking lot of the library at 501 Poplar View Parkway.
Bring your personal documents to be shredded on-site by the professionals from Shred-It. There is a limit of 5 boxes per party at the Collierville Library Parking Lot, 501 Poplar View Pkwy.

The fifth annual Memphis Miles for Myeloma Walk and Fun Run, benefiting the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation will be Nov. 14, at 8:30 a.m. at the Bert Ferguson Community Center on Trinity Road in Cordova.
Families, teams and pets are welcome. Grand Theft Audio and McAllister’s continue their support for this event, with live music and delicious iced tea and chili after the Fun Run.
All of the proceeds of this event are donated to the MMRF, which has saved countless lives and continues to pave the way through the sharing of data and innovation in the field of cancer research.

The holidays are approaching and before your calendar is filled, add the annual Christmas in Collierville Home Tour & Gift Gazebo on Dec. 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Presented by the Collierville Contemporary Club, the event features Collierville area homes festively decked out with holiday décor. Working with The Town of Collierville Parks and Recreation Department, the Holiday Gift Gazebo will be held at The Morton Museum of Collierville History, located just off the town Square at N. Main and Poplar Ave.
The Gift Gazebo will again feature free entertainment and refreshments and an assortment of treasures and gift ideas for everyone of your holiday list.
Turn in ticket stubs at the Museum on tour day for a chance to win a $50 door prize. The drawing will be held at 4 p.m. on tour day.
All proceeds are given to multiple non-profit organizations within the Collierville area.
