Mustangs go 10-0 in 2019 regular season

The Houston Mustangs completed their unblemished regular season Friday night by beating Southwind 50-45 at home. The 10-0 Mustangs are scheduled to host Germantown this Friday at 7 p.m. in the first round of the Div. 1 Class 6A playoffs.

On Friday night, senior quarterback Ethan Burns completed 9-of-11 passes for 135 yards and four touchdowns.

His favorite targets were Grayson Hitt (pictured), who had two grabs for 32 yards and two touchdowns. RH Frankland and Hank Pearson combined for five catches, nearly 100 yards and two touchdowns.

Senior running back Lincoln Pare ran for 272 yards on 20 carries. He added three touchdowns.

On defense, middle linebacker Ian Bullock had 11 tackles. Linebackers Josh Mathis and Ben Stegall combined for 16 tackles.

The Mustangs will face a 2-8 Red Devils team that is coming off of a close loss to White Station. The two teams met last August, with Germantown collecting the 49-28 victory.

Southwind (6-4) will play at Kenwood this Friday in the first round of the playoffs.
