Town plans more senior services panel discussions after successful debut event

On March 19the Collierville Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department partnered with Senior Helpers to provide a Senior Resource Panel at the Linda Kerley Center in Collierville.

This was an opportunity to help guide the Collierville community through a maze of senior resources in our own backyard. The goal of the panel was to help answer the questions, “What happens when mom or dad falls and ends up in the hospital? Who pays the bills? If she/he cannot go right back home, what are the options? How are those options paid for?â€Â

With 10 speakers representing all aspects of senior care and over 30 attendees, this event proved to be incredibly thorough and informative.

Attendees had the opportunity to hear from sponsor Rachelle Maier of Senior Helpers, Pat Smith of Senior Resource Consultants, Sally Burnette of Baptist Trinity Home Health, Sharon Dickey of Hearthside Senior Living, Beth Spinks of Schilling Gardens, Herbie Kristle of Page Robbins, Kitty Wilbanks of Baptist Reynolds Hospice House, Mary Turner of Collierville Funeral Home, Anthony Bradley of Bradley Law Firm and Jennifer Thomas Powell, a long-term care insurance provider.

All of these businesses and resources are right here in Collierville, and this was a great way for the community to learn about them. If you missed this event, another panel will be organized in the near future of you were unable to attend this meeting.
