Halfway through year town’s home sales mirror 2018

Home sales in Collierville are mirroring 2018 halfway through the year.

Through June, sales sit at 574 for 2019, which is one sale fewer than the previous year. The median sales price is actually up more than 1 percent at $370,000, the highest in the county.

The town saw a stellar month in June, with 150 sales recorded in the Memphis Area Association of Realtor’s (MAAR) database. That is up 26 percent from last June.

Sales are down in several municipalities throughout the county, including 15 percent in Germantown and 5 percent in Bartlett.

Memphis-area home sales for June decreased 4.8 percent from a year ago, with 1,869 total sales recorded in the MAARdata property records database. Sales were up 10.2 percent from May, when there were 1,696 total sales. Average sales price from June-to-June was up 7.6 percent, at $217,434. Inventory increased 3.3 percent, with 4,251 units listed for sale. Year-to-Date sales volume was down 1.7 percent at $1.72 billion.

"Total sales made a nice jump from May to June," said MAAR President Lee McWaters. "And the monthly sales volume for June was up over last year. Some of that was due to new home sales going up 12 percent."

The median sales price through six months in 2019 is $330,000 in Germantown and $210,000 in Bartlett. More than 8,400 sales have been recorded countywide halfway through the year.
