All Collierville Schools eligible for the state’s top status achieved the lofty goal according to reports released last week.
Tennessee Education Commissioner Dr. Penny Schwinn announced the 2019 TN Ready assessment results and the new designations for public schools and school districts based on state accountability determinations.
Collierville High School and all five of the eligible elementary schools â€” Bailey Station, Collierville, Crosswind, Sycamore and Tara Oaks elementary schools â€” achieved â€œRewardâ€ status.
Reward schools are generally those that are improving in terms of achievement and growth for all students and student groups.
Colliervilleâ€™s newest school, Schilling Farms Elementary, which opened in August 2018, was not yet eligible for the recognition.
Additionally, Collierville Schools earned the designation of â€œAdvancingâ€ for 2019, indicating that the district, as a whole, exceeded performance expectations among most student groups.
Collierville Schools students consistently outperformed their grade level peers statewide on all 2019 TNReady assessments. Specific performance highlights include the following:
Among all students in grades 3 through 8, the district ranks statewide as follows:

â€¢ Math â€“ No. 5
Among all students taking high school courses, the district ranks statewide as follows:
â€¢ English I â€“ No. 1 of 146 school districts
â€¢ Geometry â€“ No. 3

Superintendent Gary Lilly and the Collierville Schools Board of Education congratulated all students, families, and employees on the accomplishments.
Three Germantown schools, including Houston High and Farmington and Dogwood elementary schools achieved "Reward" status.
Six Bartlett schools were given "Reward" status, including the high school.
Last year was the first year that the department implemented its new school accountability system.
"The new framework is based on multiple indicators, similar to district accountability, and it is built on the principles that poverty is not destiny and the success of each student matters. Given that, in the new model, all schools are able to achieve Reward status, and there is no cap on the number of Reward schools. Reward schools are generally those that are improving in terms of achievement and growth for both all students and student groups."
