In many ways, it was a solid homecoming for Collierville High School.

In their first game back at Dragon Stadium at Landers SportsPlex since Aug. 21, the Collierville High School football team hosted Evangelical Christian School for the 2020 Homecoming game.

The Eagles, defending DII-AA state champions, were the No. 1 Memphis area pre-season ranked team. The Dragons knew they had a challenging task at hand when scheduling this game. The current pandemic added more challenge to the night.

However, the Dragons defense and the homecoming activities committee stepped up. It was a great night for all.

Collierville doubled-up on ECS and brought home the victory 20-10.Offensively the Dragons were led by tailback Troy Martin.

The junior rushed for 100 yards on 11 attempts that included a 36-yard touchdown run to put Collierville on the board. The play of the night followed the Dragons initial score as the tenacious defense forced a fumble on the kickoff.

John Hampton recovered and took it to the end zone.Collierville (2-1) added a second rushing touchdown in the 3rd quarter to seal the victory.

Southern Miss commit, Ethan Hassler, led the defensive attack with seven tackles.
