Repair work began Monday on the levee along the northwest side of Grove Park Lake, 1610 Hearty Oaks Lane.

Greenway trail pedestrian traffic will be blocked along the eastern rim of the lake from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day while work is in progress. The playground area will not be affected by the construction.

Construction traffic will utilize Johnson Road and Dogwood Creek to access the park. Work is scheduled to be complete by early August.


The Germantown Farm Park Farmers’ Market is held every Thursday from 4-7:30 p.m. at 2660 Cross Country Drive.

The Farm Park Farmers’ Market is a producer-only market offering a wide variety of high quality local foods, produce, meats, art and crafts.

Special programming including chef demonstrations, live music, performances and more – are woven into the market experience.

Farm Park entry is next to the Cloyes Soccer Fields on Cross Country Drive.

Overflow parking is available near the Germantown Elementary School. Shuttles are available for those needing assistance. Don’t miss your chance to eat healthier and support local farmers.

The Collierville Farmers’ Market is held every Thursday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Collierville United Methodist Church, 454 W. Poplar Ave.

You can find a little bit (or a lot) of everything at the CFM. Farm fresh vegetables & produce, grass fed meat, eggs, jams and jellies, Las Delicious Guac and Pico, baked goods, medicinal essential oil products, natural wellness items, fresh flowers, beads, baubles and candles.

Bartlett United Methodist Church will host this community event on June 25. The site is located at 5676 Stage Road in Bartlett.

Screenings can check for the level of plaque buildup in your arteries, related to risk for heart disease, stroke and overall vascular health, HDL and LDL Cholesterol levels, Diabetes risk, bone density as a risk for possible osteoporosis, Kidney and thyroid function, and more.

Collierville Town Hall will be closed on July 4 for Independence Day. In case of fire and police emergencies, call 911.

Collierville sanitation crews will not work on July 4.

There will be no garbage collection on Independence Day.

Garbage and recyclables will be picked up the day after your regular collection day. If your regular collection day is Monday, your garbage and recyclables will be picked up on Tuesday, etc.

Commercial Pick-up will remain the same.

There will be no appliance pick up on July 8.

The next available appliance pick-up will be July 15.

The Lions Club Fishing Rodeo will be July 4 from 9-11 a.m. at Municipal Park Lake.

Children, ages 4 to 15 years, can kick off the holiday with Germantown Lions Club and Germantown Parks and Recreation. Try to reel in the big one. Bring a fishing pole, tackle and bait to 1900 South Germantown Road.

Come celebrate the nation’s birthday with outstanding live musical entertainment, moon bounces, games, train rides and crafts at the Germantown Fireworks Extravaganza on July 4.

The fun does not end there, because the activities are followed by a spectacular fireworks display. The free event is at Municipal Park on Exeter Road. Activities begin at 5 p.m. with fireworks at 9:10 p.m.
